Mobile Tyre Fitting FAQs
Common questions about emergency call-outs, puncture repair, tyre replacement and the areas we cover.

How quickly can a mobile tyre fitter get to me?
Our average response time is 15–60 minutes. The exact time depends on where you are, traffic and how busy we are – we’ll give you an estimate when you call.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover North, East, South East, South & Central London and the Essex borders: from Barnet, Enfield, Cheshunt, Waltham Abbey and Loughton in the north to Upminster, Rainham, Aveley, Purfleet, Grays, Dartford and Greenhithe/Bluewater in the east, down to Clapham, Vauxhall, Streatham, Dulwich, Sidcup and Bexley in the south, and west to Mayfair, Marylebone and Westminster. See our areas we cover page for the full list.
Are you really open 24/7?
Yes. We have 46 mobile tyre fitters, with around 30 on the road at any hour, day and night, 365 days a year – including weekends and bank holidays.
Do you fit tyres on vans and 4x4s?
Yes. We fit and repair tyres for cars, vans and 4x4s. Tell us the vehicle and tyre size when you call so the fitter brings the right tyre.
Can you come to my workplace?
Yes. We come to your home, your workplace or the roadside – wherever it is safe and legal for us to work. If you’re in a private car park, please check you have permission for work to be carried out there.
What should I have ready when I call?
Your exact location (postcode or road and nearest junction), your vehicle type and, if possible, the tyre size printed on the sidewall – e.g. 205/55 R16 91V. Your registration also helps.
Can every puncture be repaired?
No. Car tyre repairs in the UK follow British Standard BS AU 159: a puncture generally needs to be in the central part of the tread, no larger than 6mm, with no sidewall damage and no damage from being driven flat. If a repair isn’t safe, we’ll recommend a replacement tyre.
How much does it cost?
Mobile puncture repair and spare tyre fitting cost £80–£100 including call-out, and each additional tyre repair on the same call-out is £50. New tyres are from £130 for a single tyre fitted, with extra tyres on the same call-out from £70 each, premium brands from £190 fitted and van tyres from £170 – for example a Triangle 205/55 R16 is £140 for one or £220 for two. Prices vary by size, brand and availability, and we confirm the price on the phone before the van sets off. See our prices.
I have a flat on a motorway or busy road – what should I do?
Your safety comes first. Pull over somewhere safe, switch on your hazard lights and get yourself and your passengers out of the vehicle on the side away from traffic, behind a barrier if there is one. If you are in danger, call 999. Then call us – our vans carry flashing amber beacons and high-visibility chevron markings, so we can assist at the roadside, including the hard shoulder.
What is the legal minimum tread depth in the UK?
For cars, the legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, around the whole tyre. Driving on illegal tyres can mean a fine of up to £2,500 and 3 penalty points per tyre.
Do you repair run-flat tyres?
Many vehicle and tyre manufacturers advise replacing run-flat tyres rather than repairing them, especially after they have been driven deflated. Call us with your tyre details and we’ll advise on the safest option.
Which tyre brands do you supply and fit?
We supply and fit premium brands including Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Hankook, Michelin, Pirelli and Yokohama, plus carefully selected mid-range brands Triangle, Westlake, Rapid and Leao. Tell us your budget and how you drive and we’ll recommend the best option. Availability of a particular brand and pattern in your size is confirmed when you call. See tyre brands & sizes.
What tyre sizes can you fit?
We supply and fit tyres from 13-inch up to 23-inch rims – from small city cars to vans, SUVs and 4x4s on large alloys. Your size is on the tyre sidewall, e.g. 225/45 R18 – the number after the R is the rim size in inches.
Do you fit run-flat, noise-cancelling and OE tyres?
Yes. We supply and fit run-flat tyres, noise-cancelling (acoustic) tyres with sound-absorbing foam, and OE/OEM tyres approved by vehicle manufacturers – such as tyres marked MO (Mercedes-Benz), ★ (BMW), AO (Audi) or N0 (Porsche). Tell us the full sidewall marking and we’ll match it.
Can I book a fitting for later today or another day?
Yes. As well as emergencies, we offer same-day and booked mobile tyre fitting. Use our booking page or call us to arrange a time.
Is there a 24 hour mobile tyre fitter near me open now?
Yes – if you’re inside our coverage area, Yellow Tyres is open right now. We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with 46 mobile tyre fitters and around 30 on the road at any hour. Call 020 3633 9533 and a fitter is typically with you in 15–60 minutes.
Do you cover Stratford, Canary Wharf, Ilford, Barking and Romford?
Yes. These are at the heart of our area. Our head office is in Canary Wharf (E14) and we have branches in Bethnal Green (E1), Chadwell Heath (RM6) and Barking (IG11), so fitters are on the road around Stratford, Canary Wharf, Ilford, Barking, Romford, Dagenham, Walthamstow and East Ham day and night.
Can you fit tyres at night, at weekends and on bank holidays?
Yes. Nights, weekends and bank holidays are normal working hours for us. The service, the phone line and the response times are the same at 2am as at 2pm.
What is Yellow Tyres?
Yellow Tyres is a London mobile tyre fitting company. We supply and fit tyres, repair punctures and handle emergency call-outs for cars, vans and 4x4s at your home, workplace or the roadside across North, East, South East, South and Central London and the Essex borders, 24/7. We have 4 branches – Canary Wharf (E14), Bethnal Green (E1), Chadwell Heath (RM6) and Barking (IG11) – and are rated 4.9–5.0 on Google from more than 1,500 reviews.
How do you repair a puncture?
We repair nail and screw punctures with a plug, not a patch – in our experience plugs hold better than patches, which can come away in icy, cold weather. Whether a tyre can be repaired at all depends on where the damage is and how big it is: damage to the sidewall or shoulder can’t be repaired and needs a new tyre. Our fitter checks the tyre inside and out and tells you honestly which it is.
My tyre keeps losing air but there’s no nail – can you fix it?
Often, yes. A tyre that keeps going down without a visible nail or screw is commonly leaking at the rim (a bead seal leak) or through a worn or damaged valve. We fix bead seal leaks by cleaning and resealing the tyre bead on the rim, and valve leaks by replacing the valve. The fitter checks the tyre first – if the leak is from damage to the tyre itself, such as the sidewall or shoulder, it needs a new tyre. The price is confirmed on the phone.
Do you fix TPMS sensors?
We fit TPMS sensor service kits where applicable: your existing tyre pressure sensor stays in place and we replace the other parts – the valve stem, seal, nut and valve core. We don’t supply new TPMS sensors and we don’t reprogram or relearn TPMS systems.
What’s included when you fit a tyre?
Every tyre we fit includes bead sealer on the rim and wheel balancing as standard, and every wheel nut or bolt is tightened with a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s setting, and we take your old tyres away for environmentally responsible disposal – at your home, workplace or roadside. Before we leave, we check the pressures on all your tyres (on a hard shoulder or in busy live traffic we finish the job and leave quickly, for safety). The price we agree on the phone is for the tyre fitted, with these included.
Where do your tyres come from?
We buy our tyres only from two established UK tyre distributors, Stapleton’s Tyre Services and Grouptyre. They’ve been our trusted suppliers for over 10 years. Every tyre we fit is genuine and traceable, and our suppliers act immediately on any manufacturer recall. We never buy grey-import or untraceable tyres.
What if you don’t have my tyre size?
Our vans carry almost every common tyre size, so most jobs are fitted from stock. If your size isn’t on the van, we can usually source it within a few hours, 7 days a week – we’ll give you an honest time on the phone. Rare or non-stock tyres that have to be special-ordered need a higher deposit, which is non-refundable because those tyres are ordered in for you.
Are all your tyres brand new?
We only fit brand-new tyres; we don’t sell part-worn or used tyres. Every tyre we supply comes from Stapleton’s Tyre Services or Grouptyre.
What equipment do your vans carry?
Every van carries a Snap-on tyre changing machine and a REMA TIP TOP wheel balancing machine, and our machines are regularly serviced and calibrated – professional Snap-on and TIP TOP machines built for mobile work, not budget kit – plus tyre stock, a compressor, a torque wrench, and flashing amber beacons with high-visibility markings for roadside work.
Do you tighten wheel nuts with a torque wrench?
Yes. Our fitters tighten every wheel nut or bolt with a torque wrench to the vehicle manufacturer’s setting.
Do you check my other tyres?
Yes – before we leave, our fitter checks the pressures on all your vehicle’s tyres, included in the job. The only exception is on a hard shoulder or in busy live traffic, where we finish the job and leave quickly for everyone’s safety.
Is there a guarantee on puncture repairs?
Every mobile tyre repair comes with a 28-day guarantee: if a repair we did fails within 28 days, you only pay the difference towards a new tyre – we credit what you paid for the repair. Our fitters check every repair is sound before they leave, so it very rarely comes to that.
Do new tyres come with a warranty?
We don’t offer an extended warranty on new tyres, because tyres are wear-and-tear items. A manufacturing fault normally shows up during fitting – a faulty tyre won’t seat and seal on the rim when it’s inflated – so we spot it before we leave and never fit a faulty tyre. This doesn’t affect your statutory rights.
Do you take my old tyres away?
Yes – disposal of your old tyres is included in our prices. We take them away for environmentally responsible disposal.
How quickly will you call me back?
If you send a callback request, we’ll call you back within 10 minutes. For an emergency, calling us is quickest.
Do you balance on site?
Yes. Every Yellow Tyres van carries a wheel balancing machine, so the fitter balances your wheels at your home, workplace or the roadside as part of every tyre we fit – it’s included in the price. Watch our vans at work on YouTube.
Will a Yellow Tyres van turn up?
Yes – a Yellow Tyres-signed van with one of our own fitters, fully kitted with tyre stock, fitting kit and a balancing machine on board. We don’t pass your job on, unlike booking agents who send whoever’s available. Watch our vans at work on YouTube.
Do you do wheel balancing call-outs?
Balancing is included when we fit your tyres. We don’t offer balancing-only call-outs; if another fitter fitted your tyres, please contact them first.
Do you price match?
We don’t price match. Cheaper online quotes are usually for a fitting slot a day or two away; our price includes coming out the same day, day or night. For same-day emergency fitting, we believe our prices are among the best in London.
Do you give discounts to returning customers?
Yes. If you’ve used Yellow Tyres before, mention it when you call – returning customers can get a discount. The amount varies with the job, and we’ll confirm the price on the phone before we set off. We recognise you by your mobile number.
Do I pay a deposit?
Yes. Once the price is agreed on the phone, you pay a deposit of £40–£70 by a secure SumUp payment link (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or American Express) or bank transfer to confirm the booking. Special-order tyres that we don’t keep in stock need a higher deposit.
How do I pay?
Deposit: by a secure SumUp payment link (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or American Express) or bank transfer. Balance, once the job is done: by SumUp link, bank transfer or cash on site. Cash is accepted for the balance only. Every payment goes to Yellow Tyres Ltd, and you get an invoice for every job. There are no payment forms on this website, and we never ask for card details over the phone.
Is the deposit refundable?
If you cancel before we set off, we’ll refund your deposit. Once the fitter has set off, the deposit is non-refundable. Deposits for special-order tyres are non-refundable, because those tyres can’t be returned to the supplier.
Who do I pay?
Every payment goes to Yellow Tyres Ltd (company no. 12538309) – by SumUp link or bank transfer, with cash accepted only for the balance, paid on site. We never ask you to pay a personal account.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes – an invoice from Yellow Tyres Ltd for every job. We’re not VAT registered, so there’s no VAT to add – the price we agree is the price you pay.
Where do I find my tyre size?
It’s moulded into the tyre wall – a code like 205/55 R16 91V. Have your tyre size ready when you call: it’s on the tyre wall (e.g. 205/55 R16). Not sure? Stay with the vehicle and we’ll help you find it over the phone. Please read it from the tyre itself rather than relying on a registration lookup, and check the front and rear, as some cars use different sizes on each axle.
What if I give the wrong tyre size?
If the fitter arrives and the size we were given is wrong, there’s a call-out fee of £60–£80, plus another call-out fee for the return visit with the correct size. That’s why we ask you to read the size from the tyre wall – front and rear – before you book.
Do I need my locking wheel nut key?
Yes – please make sure your locking wheel nut key is with the car. If it’s lost, tell us when you call: we can remove most locking wheel nuts (around 7 in 10 types) with specialist tools, for £100 per nut. Send us the make, model and a photo of the nut so we can check before we set off.
Do your prices include VAT? (fleet and business customers)
We’re not VAT registered, so there’s no VAT to add – the price we agree on the phone is the price you pay, and you get an invoice from Yellow Tyres Ltd for every job.
Are your fitters qualified?
Every fitter on our team is qualified, with 15+ years’ experience. Founded by a motor mechanic with IMI-awarded NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and a Motor Vehicle Parts qualification.
Are you NTDA members?
No – Yellow Tyres isn’t a member of the NTDA (the National Tyre Distributors Association), the UK trade association for tyre distributors and retailers. Membership is voluntary, and the NTDA does valuable work for the industry, including its technician licensing scheme, which has a licence for mobile tyre technicians. We’ve chosen to let our qualifications, equipment and reviews speak for themselves – and you can check every one of them: every fitter on our team is qualified, with 15+ years’ experience; the business was founded by a motor mechanic with IMI-awarded NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and a Motor Vehicle Parts qualification; in tyres since 2014; fully signed vans with Snap-on and REMA TIP TOP machines, regularly serviced and calibrated; wheel nuts tightened with a torque wrench; genuine tyres from Stapleton’s Tyre Services and Grouptyre; a 28-day guarantee on puncture repairs; an invoice from a registered company, Yellow Tyres Ltd (no. 12538309); and 1,500+ Google reviews.
Why can’t I book and pay online?
We confirm every job by phone so we can check the exact size from your tyre’s sidewall, lock the price before we set off (no price going up on the day) and make sure the right tyre is on the van – so there are no delays. Send a callback request and we’ll call you back within 10 minutes, or call us any time.
Is there an extra charge on motorways or dual carriageways?
Only on A roads and motorways. A-road and motorway call-outs (any A or M route, including dual carriageway A roads) cost an extra £60–£100 on top of the normal price, because of the journey and the work involved on those roads. Normal roadside jobs on local streets have no extra charge. It’s never hidden: we confirm the full price, including any extra, on the phone before we set off. Safety first – on a hard shoulder, get behind the barrier and call 999 if you’re in danger, or National Highways on 0300 123 5000.
What do the ratings on a tyre label mean?
The UK tyre label shows three things: fuel efficiency (rolling resistance, graded A to E – A uses least fuel), wet grip (graded A to E – A stops shortest on wet roads) and external rolling noise (in decibels, with an A, B or C class). Some labels also show snow or ice grip symbols. Ask us for the label grades of the tyres we quote – we’ll tell you on the phone.
How can I check a mobile tyre fitter before I book?
Look for a signed van with company details, a balancing machine on board, a registered company you can look up on Companies House, payment to a business rather than a personal account, a price agreed up front, an invoice, and real Google reviews. See our short checklist – and how Yellow Tyres measures up.
