Spare tyre assist, wherever you are
Yellow Tyres fits your spare wheel at your home, workplace or the roadside across North, East, South East, South and Central London and the Essex borders, 24/7, for £80–£100 including the call-out. We can also repair the flat with a plug where safe, or fit a brand-new tyre from £130.
Changing a wheel on a busy road, in the rain or in the dark isn’t much fun – and wheel nuts done up with an air gun can be almost impossible to shift with the car’s own wrench. Our fitters bring the right tools and jacks, and with around 30 of our 46 fitters on the road at any hour, there’s usually one nearby.
Better than a spare: fix it there and then
- Repair the flat – nail or screw in the tread? A plug repair where safe, so your full-size tyre goes back on.
- Replace it – sidewall damage or a blowout? A new tyre from £130 fitted, balanced on the van. We only fit brand-new tyres; we don’t sell part-worn or used tyres.
- Fit the spare – if you’d rather sort the tyre later, we fit your spare and check its pressure.
Staying safe while you wait
- Get somewhere safe – a side road, lay-by or car park – and put your hazard lights on.
- On a fast road, get everyone out on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier.
- If you’re in danger, call 999 first.

Spare tyre fitting FAQs
How much does it cost to have my spare fitted?
Spare tyre assist – we come out and fit your own spare wheel – costs £80–£100, including the call-out. The price is agreed on the phone before we set off.
Can you repair my flat tyre instead?
Often, yes. If the damage is a nail or screw in the repairable part of the tread, we can repair it with a plug at the same visit – £50 for each additional repair on the same call-out – so you get your full-size tyre back on rather than driving on the spare.
My car has a space-saver spare – is that OK to drive on?
A space-saver (thin temporary spare) is only for getting you to a tyre fitter: there’s usually a speed limit, often 50mph, printed on the wheel or in your handbook. Get the flat tyre repaired or replaced as soon as you can – we can do that on the spot.
I can’t undo the wheel nuts – can you help?
Yes, that’s exactly what spare tyre assist is for. If it’s a locking wheel nut and the key is lost, tell us when you call – we can remove most types (around 7 in 10) for £100 per nut.
Do I need anything ready?
Your location, the vehicle, and the locking wheel nut key if your car has locking nuts. If you also want a new tyre, the size from the tyre wall – front and rear can differ.
My car has no spare wheel – what now?
Many newer cars have only an inflation kit, or run-flat tyres. We can repair the puncture where safe or fit a new tyre (from £130 fitted) wherever the car is.
