Privacy Policy
How Yellow Tyres Ltd uses the details you give us when you call, message or send a callback request – and your rights over them.
In short: we use your details to call you back, quote, send a fitter and keep a record of the job. We don’t sell your details. Analytics and advertising cookies are only used if you say yes. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time.
1. Who we are
Yellow Tyres Ltd (company no. 12538309, registered in England and Wales), 10-16 Tiller Rd, London E14 8PX, trading as Yellow Tyres, is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide how it’s used and we’re responsible for looking after it.
Contact us about your data at info@yellowtyres.co.uk, on 020 3633 9533, or by post to Yellow Tyres Ltd, 10-16 Tiller Rd, London E14 8PX.
2. What we collect
When you send a callback, booking or quote request on our website
We collect what you type into the form. Depending on the form, that’s your name, UK mobile number, vehicle registration, vehicle type or make and model, tyre size(s) front and rear, your location or the address where the work is needed, the service you need and any notes, plus the two checkboxes on the booking form (tyre size checked on the tyre wall, locking wheel nut key with the vehicle). For towing we also ask for the pick-up and drop-off locations; for MOT bookings, the registration, car or van, your preferred test centre and preferred time.
So we can run the forms safely and see which pages and adverts bring enquiries, we also store with your request: the page you sent it from and the page you first landed on, any campaign tags in the link you arrived on (for example which Google listing you clicked), the referring website, an advert click ID if you arrived by clicking one of our online adverts, the date and time, your IP address and your browser type.
When you call, text or WhatsApp us
We receive your phone number and whatever you tell us – usually your name, location, vehicle, tyre size and what’s happened. If you send photos (for example of a tyre wall or a locking wheel nut), we receive those too. WhatsApp messages are also covered by WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
When we do a job
We keep a record of the job: the work done, the price, the invoice, and how and when you paid. If someone books on your behalf (for example a family member or your employer), we get your details from them.
3. How we use it, and our lawful bases
UK data protection law says we need a lawful basis for each use of your data. Ours are:
- To answer your enquiry, quote, book and carry out the job – calling or texting you back, confirming the tyre size, price and location, sending a fitter, texting you a quote or payment link, and dealing with any follow-up or guarantee claim. Basis: contract (taking steps you’ve asked for before a contract, and then carrying it out).
- To keep invoices and accounting records. Basis: legal obligation (tax and company law).
- To keep your mobile number as your customer reference, so we can recognise you when you contact us again – for example to see your previous tyre size or job and offer returning-customer discounts. Basis: legitimate interests (running an efficient service for returning customers). You can ask us to remove it at any time.
- To prevent spam and abuse of our forms and keep the website secure, and to understand which pages, listings and adverts bring us enquiries. Basis: legitimate interests.
- To show anonymised examples of our work on our Recent jobs and case study pages (see section 8). Basis: legitimate interests.
- To deal with complaints or legal claims. Basis: legitimate interests (and legal obligation where it applies).
- Analytics and advertising cookies. Basis: your consent – see Cookies.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve weighed them against your rights and kept what we use to a minimum. If we ever send you offers by text or email, it will only be where the law allows (for example to existing customers about similar services we provide), and every message will let you opt out.
We don’t make decisions about you by purely automated means.
4. Payments
We don’t take card details over the phone or store them, and there are no payment forms on this website. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and American Express payments are made through a secure SumUp payment link that we send you, and your card details are handled by SumUp under SumUp’s privacy policy. If you pay by bank transfer, we see the payer name and reference your bank sends with the payment.
5. Who we share it with
We don’t sell your details or pass your job to other companies for marketing. We use these service providers, who handle data for us under contract:
- Krystal Hosting (UK) – hosts this website, our enquiry system (a password-protected database) and our email.
- SumUp – processes deposit and balance payments made by payment link.
- Google – Google Analytics and Google Ads, only if you accept those cookies (see Cookies). If our Google reviews feed is switched on, reviews and reviewers’ profile photos are loaded from Google, which means Google receives your IP address when your browser loads them. Links to our Google Maps listings open Google Maps, which is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
- WhatsApp (Meta) – only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
Inside Yellow Tyres, your details are seen only by the team and the fitter who need them to do your job. We may also share data with our accountants and professional advisers, or with the police, HMRC, courts or other authorities where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
Links to our Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube pages are plain links: nothing from those sites is loaded on our pages, and their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
6. Transfers outside the UK
Our website, enquiry database and email are hosted in the UK. Google and WhatsApp (Meta) may process data in the USA and other countries. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US “data bridge” for certified US companies) or by ICO-approved contract clauses. SumUp explains its own transfers in its privacy policy.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t become a job (website forms, emails and messages): up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Job records, invoices and payment records: 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax and company law require it.
- Your mobile number as a customer reference (with your vehicle, tyre size and job history): until you ask us to remove it, or 3 years after your last job or contact with us, whichever is sooner.
- Anti-spam records (IP addresses used to limit repeat form submissions): deleted automatically within 24 hours.
- Google Analytics data: 14 months, set in our Google Analytics account.
- Your cookie choice: 12 months in your browser (see below).
We may keep information longer if we need it to deal with a complaint or legal claim, but only for as long as that takes.
8. Recent jobs and case studies on our website
If we show a job on our Recent jobs page or in a case study, we show only the service, date, town and postcode district (for example RM7) – never your name, mobile number, full postcode or number plate. Photos are checked so that no number plate or face is visible, and their location data is removed. If you’d rather we didn’t show your job, tell us and we’ll take it down.
9. Keeping it safe
Our website uses HTTPS. The enquiry system is password-protected, blocked from search engines and from public access, and locks out repeated wrong passwords. Only our team can see enquiries, and we never ask for card details by phone, text or email.
10. Cookies and similar technology
We only use non-essential cookies if you agree. When you first visit, a banner lets you Accept all, Reject all, or choose Analytics and Advertising separately under Manage. Nothing is ticked in advance.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) – only with your consent. Cookies such as
_gaand_ga_…(kept for up to 2 years) count visits and show which pages are used, so we can improve the site. - Advertising cookies (Google Ads) – only with your consent. Cookies such as
_gcl_au(kept for up to 90 days) and Google’s own advertising cookies help us see which ads lead to calls and enquiries, and may be used by Google to show more relevant ads. - Essential storage – always on. Your cookie choice is saved in your browser’s local storage for 12 months, after which we ask again. Your browser’s session storage (cleared when you close the tab) carries the campaign tags and any advert click ID from the link you arrived on through to the form; they only reach us if you send a request. The staff admin area sets a login cookie, used only by our team.
We use Google Consent Mode. Until you choose, or if you reject, Google’s tags on our site set no analytics or advertising cookies; Google may still receive basic cookieless signals (for example that a page was viewed), which aren’t used to identify you. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Changing your choice: select at the bottom of any page to change or withdraw your consent at any time. If you withdraw consent, we remove the Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies set on our site.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:
- get a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
- have it corrected if it’s wrong;
- have it deleted – including asking us to remove your mobile number as a customer reference;
- object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests, and to any direct marketing;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or to give it to you in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent to cookies at any time, using Cookie settings.
To use any of these rights, email info@yellowtyres.co.uk or call 020 3633 9533. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm who you are – usually by contacting you on the mobile number we hold. Some rights have legal limits: for example, we must keep invoices for the time tax law requires.
12. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or call 0303 123 1113.
13. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if the way we use data changes, and change the date below. See also our Terms and Conditions.
