Plain-English terms

Terms and Conditions

How booking, paying, cancelling and our guarantees work – in plain English.

In short: we agree the tyre size and a fixed price with you on the phone before a fitter sets off. A small deposit confirms the booking, and you pay the rest when the job’s done. If you cancel before we set off, you get your deposit back. Please read the size from the tyre wall and have your locking wheel nut key with the vehicle. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. Who we are

These terms apply to services provided by Yellow Tyres Ltd (company no. 12538309, registered in England and Wales), 10-16 Tiller Rd, London E14 8PX, trading as Yellow Tyres. We run 4 branches in East London and are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We’re not VAT registered, so there’s no VAT to add, and you get an invoice from Yellow Tyres Ltd for every job.

Contact: 020 3633 9533 (24/7) or info@yellowtyres.co.uk.

2. Booking and quotes

  • There’s no online self-booking. You call us, WhatsApp us or send a callback request, and we call you back – usually within 10 minutes.
  • On the phone we confirm your tyre size, the tyres or work you need, where you are and a fixed price, before the fitter sets off. Prices shown on our website are a guide; the price we confirm with you on the phone is the price for the job.
  • Your booking is confirmed when you’ve agreed the price and paid the deposit (see section 3). We’ll send the payment link to your mobile.
  • Nothing is fitted or charged without your agreement. If the fitter finds something else that needs doing, we’ll explain it and agree any extra work and price with you first – the choice is yours.
  • Arrival times we give are honest estimates (typically 15–60 minutes) and depend on your location, traffic and how busy we are. We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

3. Prices and payment

  • Tyre prices include fitting, wheel balancing and disposal of your old tyres. We don’t price match.
  • Deposit: £40–£70 to confirm a tyre booking, paid by secure SumUp payment link (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or American Express) or bank transfer. Special-order tyres need a higher deposit (see section 6).
  • Balance: paid once the fitter is on site and the job is done, by SumUp link, bank transfer or cash. Cash is accepted for the on-site balance only.
  • Other services have their own upfront payment, which we confirm before booking: jump starts £20, battery replacement where we supply the battery £100, servicing and brake jobs £30, and MOT bookings £5 (see section 9).
  • We don’t offer credit accounts: each job is paid for when it’s done. Every payment goes to Yellow Tyres Ltd – we’ll never ask you to pay a personal account, and we never ask for card details over the phone.

4. Cancelling and your 14-day right

If you cancel before the fitter sets off

Tell us by phone, WhatsApp or email and we’ll refund your deposit or upfront payment in full (apart from special-order tyres – see section 6).

If you cancel after the fitter has set off

Once the fitter is on the way, we’ve committed a fitter, van and stock to your job. So your deposit or upfront payment is no longer refundable: we keep it to cover the cost of the call-out, and we won’t charge you anything more than that for cancelling.

Your legal 14-day cancellation right

Because you book by phone, WhatsApp or online, consumer law (the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) usually gives you 14 days to cancel. Most of our jobs are same-day or emergency call-outs, so when you book you’re asking us to start the work straight away, within that 14-day period. That means:

  • once we’ve fully completed the work, you no longer have the right to cancel it;
  • if you cancel after the fitter has set off but before the work is finished, you pay for what we’ve provided up to that point – which is the call-out covered by your deposit, as above;
  • if you called us out for an urgent repair (for example a flat tyre or a puncture), the 14-day right doesn’t apply to that urgent work, as the law allows.

Tyres fitted to your vehicle can’t be returned as new, but if you think something is wrong with a tyre or the work, your rights in section 7 apply. To cancel, contact us on 020 3633 9533 or info@yellowtyres.co.uk. You can use the form below, but you don’t have to:

To Yellow Tyres Ltd, 10-16 Tiller Rd, London E14 8PX, info@yellowtyres.co.uk – I/We hereby give notice that I/We cancel my/our contract for the supply of the following service: … Booked on: … Name of consumer(s): … Address of consumer(s): … Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is sent on paper): … Date: …

We’ll make any refund due within 14 days, using the same payment method you used, unless we agree otherwise.

5. What we need from you

  • The right tyre size. Please read the size from the wall of the tyre itself – front and rear, as they can be different. Don’t rely on a number-plate lookup or the vehicle handbook: they can be wrong, and earlier owners may have fitted a different size.
  • Wrong size given: if the fitter arrives and the size you gave us is wrong, there’s a call-out fee of £60–£80, plus another call-out fee for the return visit with the correct tyre. This applies to emergency call-outs too.
  • Your locking wheel nut key. Please make sure it’s with the vehicle before the fitter arrives. If it’s lost, tell us when you book: we can remove most types of locking wheel nut with specialist tools, for £100 per nut, which we’ll agree with you first. If the key isn’t there and the nut can’t be removed, the job may not be possible, and the cancellation terms in section 4 apply.
  • Access to the vehicle – the keys and the vehicle need to be available when the fitter arrives.
  • Tell us about anything unusual when you book – run-flat tyres, tyre pressure sensors, damaged wheels, or anything else about the vehicle – so the fitter brings the right equipment.
  • A safe, legal place to work – see section 8. In private car parks, please make sure work is allowed.

6. Special-order tyres

Our vans carry almost every common tyre size, and we can usually source others within a few hours. Rare or non-stock tyres that we have to order in specially for you need a higher deposit, which we’ll confirm before ordering. Because those tyres can’t be returned to our supplier, this deposit isn’t refundable once we’ve ordered them, except where the law gives you a right to cancel and a refund.

7. Guarantees and your legal rights

Your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, our work must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and the tyres and parts we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they aren’t, you’re entitled to a remedy – for example, putting the work right, a replacement, or a refund or price reduction. Nothing in these terms takes away those rights. For free, independent advice, contact Citizens Advice.

Puncture repairs – 28-day guarantee. Puncture repairs follow British Standard BS AU 159. Every mobile tyre repair comes with a 28-day guarantee: if a repair we did fails within 28 days, you only pay the difference towards a new tyre – we credit what you paid for the repair. Sidewall or shoulder damage always needs a new tyre, and if a tyre can’t be repaired safely, we’ll explain why and offer a replacement.

New tyres. We don’t offer an extra warranty on new tyres on top of your legal rights, because tyres are wear-and-tear items. A manufacturing fault normally shows up during fitting – a faulty tyre won’t seat and seal on the rim when it’s inflated – so we check before we leave and never fit a faulty tyre. If you think a tyre we supplied is faulty, contact us and your legal rights above apply. Normal wear, and damage from punctures, kerbs, potholes or under-inflation after fitting, aren’t faults.

Parts you supply. Our brake prices (£80, £120 and £220) and own-parts servicing price are for fitting parts you supply. You’re responsible for those parts being correct for the vehicle and of suitable quality; we’re responsible for fitting them with reasonable care and skill.

8. Safety and where we can work

We work where it’s safe and legal to do so. Our vans carry flashing amber beacons and high-visibility chevron markings, so we can work at the roadside, and our fitters attend motorway hard shoulders within our coverage area, including the M25. We can’t work inside tunnels or on the Dartford Crossing bridge or tunnels.

On a motorway, get everyone out on the left side of the vehicle and behind the barrier, and call 999 if you’re in danger. If our fitter decides a location isn’t safe – because of traffic, the ground, the weather or anyone’s behaviour – they may refuse to start or stop the work, and we’ll agree another place nearby where possible. Our fitters won’t fit or repair a tyre, or carry out any work, that they believe would leave the vehicle unsafe or illegal to drive.

9. Other services

  • Jump starts, batteries, servicing and brakes: the upfront payment in section 3 confirms the booking and, like our tyre deposits, is non-refundable once the fitter has set off. Battery replacements where we supply the battery, towing, and car keys and fobs are quoted individually by text before anything is booked.
  • MOT tests: MOT tests only (not mobile), at the test centres listed on our MOT testing page, booked through our website or by phone only. A £5 booking payment secures your slot and isn’t refundable if you cancel or don’t turn up, except where the law requires a refund. The rest is paid in cash at the centre.

10. Our responsibility to you

  • We’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
  • We don’t exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so – including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breaking your legal rights described in section 7.
  • We’re not responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for business losses such as loss of profit, earnings or business opportunity.
  • We’re not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control – for example severe weather, road closures, accidents or police incidents. We’ll tell you as soon as we can and agree a new time or refund any payment for work we can’t carry out.

11. Problems and complaints

If anything isn’t right, please contact us as soon as possible on 020 3633 9533 or info@yellowtyres.co.uk, with your name, mobile number, the date of the job and what went wrong. We’ll look into it and work with you to put it right. If you’re still unhappy, you can get free advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service.

12. Your personal data

We use your details as explained in our Privacy Policy.

13. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your job are the ones on this page when you booked.
