Emergency and 24-hour tyre help in City of London
A flat, a blowout or a nail in the tyre can happen at any hour, and in City of London it’s often on or near the Upper and Lower Thames Street. Our fitters work through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, and the service is the same at 2am as at 2pm. Same-day and booked fittings are available too, if your tyre is legal but needs replacing soon.
- Get somewhere safe first – a side road, car park or lay-by – and put your hazard lights on.
- On a fast road, get everyone out on the side away from traffic and wait behind a barrier if there is one. If you’re in danger, call 999.
- Don’t keep driving on a flat – it can wreck the tyre and the wheel.
- Call 020 3633 9533 with your exact location and vehicle. Have your tyre size ready when you call: it’s on the tyre wall (e.g. 205/55 R16). Not sure? Stay with the vehicle and we’ll help you find it over the phone.
- Make sure your locking wheel nut key is with the vehicle. Lost it? Tell us when you call – we can remove most types.
Roads and trouble spots we know in City of London
Upper and Lower Thames Street
The riverside route through the City is a fast red route and tunnel-like in places. Don’t stop on it – turn off into a side street or car park first.
Bishopsgate and London Wall
Bishopsgate runs past Liverpool Street and London Wall past the Barbican. Both carry heavy bus and taxi traffic and have bus lanes.
Bank junction
The roads into Bank are restricted to buses and cycles on weekdays during the day, so we route around them – tell us exactly where you are.
Aldgate and Tower Hill
The roads around Aldgate and Tower Hill link the City with the A11, A13 and The Highway, and are busy at all hours.
Cheapside, Newgate Street and Holborn Viaduct
The western side of the City runs from St Paul’s to Holborn, with bus gates and restricted turns. Check where you can stop before you pull over.
Minories, Mansell Street and the Tower Hill approaches
The eastern edge of the City around Aldgate and Tower Gateway carries heavy traffic towards the A13 and Tower Bridge.
Where we’re called out most in City of London
City call-outs come from office car parks around Liverpool Street and Broadgate, the Barbican residential car parks, Smithfield and Farringdon, hotels around Aldgate and Tower Hill, and early-morning or late-night drivers who find a flat before or after work.
Parking and where we can work
Most City jobs are in underground or office car parks. Tell us the building, car park entrance, level and any height limit, and let security know a tyre fitter is coming. Some entry points into the City have police checkpoints – that’s normal and doesn’t stop us reaching you.
Flat on a main road? Our breakdown spots guide covers what to do on the Limehouse Link.
Common breakdown spots in City of London
In the City, many punctures come from the constant construction – screws and metal offcuts near the building sites around Bishopsgate, Aldgate and Moorgate. Kerbed wheels are common in the narrow lanes and the tight ramps of the office and Barbican car parks, and the cycle-lane kerbs along Upper and Lower Thames Street and the CS3 catch plenty of wheels.
Bank junction is restricted to buses and cycles on weekdays during the day, and many streets have timed closures – so if you have a problem near Bank, carry on to a permitted street before stopping.
Typical tyre jobs in City of London
Most of our City jobs are for people who work here: a flat found in the office car park, or a tyre warning light on the way in. We work in office and public car parks with the building’s agreement, and many customers simply give us the car park, level and bay. Prestige and executive cars are common, so we bring run-flat and OE-marked tyres where needed.
We also help courier and delivery vans, chauffeur and private-hire drivers working Liverpool Street, Bank and Moorgate, and Barbican residents. At weekends the City is quieter and it’s often easier to find a place to work. Our Cambridge Heath Road base in E1 is just a few minutes away.
Real local fitters in City of London, not a booking middleman
You’re calling the fitter, not a booking agent. Our own vans, our own fitters, from 4 East London bases. Our own fitters are on the road 24/7 inside our coverage area, and the call is answered by the team that comes out – so we can tell you honestly when a fitter will reach you. A Yellow Tyres-signed van turns up fully kitted – with a Snap-on tyre changer, a TIP TOP wheel balancer and a torque wrench on board – so we balance your wheels on site and tighten every wheel nut to the manufacturer’s setting, not just fit the tyre.
